Mortgage Rates: High Risk Event Tomorrow

Hot news from AZ Home Help:

Posted To: Mortgage Rate Watch

Well folks, here we are in the evening hours of Thursday on a week where much has been made of tomorrow morning's employment report (which I'll refer to as NFP from here on out). If yesterday was the knee jerk reaction to data that has some predictive value for tomorrow's data coming in much stronger than expected, then today was the sober moderation of that reaction. Think of this in terms of a baseball analogy. If a runner on first base, for whatever reason, has an increasing level of believe that he can steal second base, he might increase his lead-off. If the "runner" represents "the market" and 2nd base represents where the market might go if tomorrow's NFP shows strong job creation, then yesterday's ADP report caused our runner to immediately take a highly aggressive lead off position...(read more)

Good and Bad Feedback on NMLS Process; 2nd Liens on the Move; Another Contractor Mistaken Levels Wrong Home, Texas Cash-Outs

Hot news from AZ Home Help:

Oops: Contractor Mistakenly Levels Pittsburgh Home This year both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union address occur on the same day. "It is an ironic juxtaposition of events; one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog." In an effort for equal billing: "Hi. This is Sarah Palin. Is Senator Lieberman in?" "No, governor. This is Yom Kippur." "Well, hello, Yom. Can I leave a message?" Congress has opened for business, and the financial markets will be closely tracking any potential changes in our deficit. But the new government didn't help fixed-income securities yesterday. "Those aren't bumps in the road, that's the road." Fixed-income prices went down yesterday, and rates moved higher, after...(read more)

Mortgage Rates: ADPJobs Preview Pushes Closing Costs Higher

Hot news from AZ Home Help:

Posted To: Mortgage Rate Watch

Yesterday, we wrote "the release of the ADP Employment Report in the morning could provide some directional guidance because that data tends to be a preview of things to come in the Employment Situation Report (released Friday morning at 8:30am)." Today, we've seen what borders on a worst-case-scenario transpire with respect to that data. Rates moved up, and they moved up sharply. Let's examine how that happened and what the implications are going forward. It all boils down to NFP (shorthand abbreviation for the Employment Report stemming from the "non farm payrolls" component). At first glance, that seems odd considering it is not yet Friday morning! But considering that Friday's report not only is the first major econ data that arrives after the markets are assumed to be getting back up to...(read more)

Phoenix Real Estate facing ugly times ahead?

Are we going to see more ugly times ahead for Phoenix Real Estate?  We certainly are hoping for the best however new home sales look to be stagnant again which although this may benefit the resale market it also means homebuilders, developers, and the like won't look for new projects or land which stagnates growth.  http://bit.ly/e5sJkl

Reprices Reported as Volatility Returns to Bond Market. Rates Fighting for Foothold

Hot news from AZ Home Help:

The "Live MBS Updates" Section of our new MBSonMND Dashboard has been a great indicator of that volatility today. It is updated as market conditions warrant, or at 30-40 minute intervals if not much is happening so that at least subscribers don't have to wonder if anything is or is not happening! The frequency of updates so far today clearly tells the story of the market's frantic pace. Here's a look at that story as told by 10yr notes. Note the highly technical behavior around the two levels noted. They had been holding up very well this morning, but upon breaking, shot higher fairly quickly, as is the tendency immediately following the break of a support or resistance level that had been holding. The challenge now would be for yields to break BACK THROUGH that red line, which so far, they...(read more)
